Ladies 1st XI
Ladies 1st XI
1XI play in Surrey Open Premier Divison
Captain – Natalie Turner
Vice – Nicola Sewell
18th Feb v Reigate Priory 1s (away) L 0-1
After a weather forced cancellation the Ladies 1st XI travelled to bottom of the league Reigate Priory and despite a well fought battle lost 1-0 on the road. Whilst possibly being undone by the oppositions supply of both umpires others suggest that the fantastic coach has turned things around in Reigate and the girls responded to his every command. Twanny even grabbed a Penalty Stroke save so the result could have been worse for the girls but as it stands they’re in joint 3rd, well within reach of a play-off place.
04th Feb – Cancelled due to weather
28th Jan v Wimbledon 1A’s (away) W 2-1
The Ladies 1’s travelled to Wimbledon 1A’s who were not only top but had conceded only 6 goals all season (2 of those were in their 2-1 defeat to The Hawks back in early October), which is less than half that of any other team in that league. It wasn’t going to be an easy match but the girls played with a much greater level of accuracy and composure than has been seen this season. The break through goal came courtesy of Sophie ‘Shower Curtain’ Crabb bagging her first for The Hawks. A 1-0 victory was a massive boost that see’s the Hawks move up to joint 2nd after Woking only managed a draw and London Ed’s lost to bottom place Reigate.
21st Jan v Wanderers 2’s (home) W 3-1
The Ladies 1’s started the second half of the season as they meant to go on with a 3-1 defeat over Wanderers 2’s. A converted short corner for Kat, one for Jen and another for leading Ladies Scorer Lou see’s the girls jump to 4th in the league and only 4 points behind Top of the League Wimbledon who they face this week.
