That’s 2 L’s on the bounce for the first time this season.

In a highly anticipated clash, the 1st XI took on Reigate Priory 1s, but despite their best efforts The Hawks succumbed to a 4-1 defeat.

From the opening whistle, both teams showed attacking intent, but it was Reigate whose desire shone through, taking an early lead with a well-executed short corner, putting the away side on the defensive. As the first half progressed, The Hawks began creating chances of their own and testing Reigate's defence, but were denied anything clear cut.

In the second half, Reigate extended their lead early on with another well-taken short corner, and despite the Hawks best efforts to mount a comeback, they added two goals to their tally soon after.

Facing a deficit, The Hawks refused to roll over, rallying together to salvage a goal and narrow the margin. But hopes of a comeback were slight, and Reigate came out on top. That brings Reigate level on points with the Hawks, and sees them go ahead on goal difference.

We spoke to Will Taylor after the game for his thoughts. “Today's match was certainly a tough one for us. Reigate played well, and we have to give credit where it's due. We’re disappointed with the result. We know we're capable of more, and we'll be reflecting on that to identify areas where we can improve. We won't dwell on this though. Instead, we'll use it as motivation to come back stronger in our next match. Our focus now is on regrouping, putting in the hard work on the training ground, and ensuring we're better prepared for the challenges ahead.”

Matt Chappell used his time after the match to thank Lawrence Oldham, who now leaves the club for a new challenge in East Anglia. “It's a shame that we weren’t able to bring home 3 points for Lawrence’s last game with the side, but want to thank him for his time with the club, and wish him well in his new challenge.”

The Hawks face Crawley at home next week, looking to return to winning ways!
